# SOFT\_NUM

> This page is not the authoritative source for design information. The official [IS3720 datasheet](https://www.inacks.com/is3720) published on [www.inacks.com](http://www.inacks.com) is the authoritative reference: always consult it for the latest information.

The SOFT\_NUM register block numerically indicates the software version number of your device.

This number appears on the lighting operator’s console, it is for informational purposes only and does not affect RDM or DMX device operation.

All devices from the same manufacturer and with the same MODEL\_NUM, which use identical software, shall report back the same SOFT\_NUM, and shall use identical software.

The SOFT\_NUM number is a 32-bit register block composed by four 8-bit registers. Register address 595 is the high byte and register address 598 is the low byte.

This register corresponds to the RDM parameter 0x0060 DEVICE\_INFO.SOFTWARE\_VERSION\_ID.

This register block can be read and written via I2C and read via RDM.

This is a non-volatile register block. On each power-up, it loads its last stored value. Writing the same content to non-volatile memory that it previously held does not trigger a write cycle; therefore, it is safe to write to this register at every startup of your firmware.
